BOARDS
Spruce | PineBoards can be produced from any kind of tree, but Spruce and Ponderosa Pine are the two most commonly used species. Both of these species have strong, beautiful characteristics, yet there are some differences found within these two. Ponderosa Pine tends to have larger knots, but these knots are spread throughout the lumber. Spruce has smaller, tighter knots, which are more consistent throughout the boards. Ponderosa Pine is easier to stain, but Spruce accepts a pattern more readily. While boards are mostly used for trim work, and fascia; small craftsmanship is also another common use.

DIMENSION
Western SPF | Hem Fir | White Fir | Douglas Fir | Southern Yellow Pine
Dimension is the name given to lumber that has been cut to standardized sizes of width and height in inches. Dimension lumber is most commonly used to frame walls, floors and roofs. Logs are sawn into rough size lumber or cants, then edged and sawn again to final dimension and cut to length. Dimensional lumber is used for housing and commercial construction.

Studs, traditionally, are 2 x 4 pieces of lumber used for framing basic buildings in residential construction. They are considered one of the most basic and simple building materials. A stud has nominal dimensions of 2" to 4" thickness and 2" to 6 " widths. Studs are separated into three different categories: construction, standard and utility.

The specific type of glue and veneer determine the suitability of a sheet of plywood and its particular application. Each sheet of plywood is graded for exterior or interior use. Plywood is used in everything from construction to furniture. This is because plywood has great strength, low cost, and stability. Plywood is commonly used as a base under flooring or carpeting because it remains flat and gives a smooth, uniform surface that will not split or crack. Plywood is also useful for wall paneling because it helps against wind, earthquakes, and the settling of a house, while also providing thermal protection. TIMBERS
Douglas FirTimbers provide a skeletal-like frame, which supports an entire building/structure, including fence posts. Traditionally, timbers were driven face out, begged together, and then in filled. This produced a visible frame from the inside, out. Today, timbers still provide great structural support with fewer, larger pieces of lumber, while also providing aesthetic and structural benefits. Vertical timbers are also known as posts, which support structures at corners or other major uprights. Horizontal timbers include sill beams, noggin-pieces, and wall plates. And sloping timbers provide trusses and braces. Timbers provide great structural support in new numbers!

Cedar has a natural resistance to moisture, decay and insect intrusion. With unmistakable dimensional stability, cedar lumber lays flat and straight. These boards retain fasteners and are sure to stay firm and solid throughout the life of your house. With a cellular structure that creates interior air spaces, cedar provides great insulation, better than most woods and higher than brick or concrete. This creates a cooler house in summer, warmer in winter, and helps absorb sound. Although cedar provides a great base for stains and paint, cedar is naturally a beautiful wood. With fine grain and texture and warm tones, light amber to deep honey, cedar makes a durable and beautiful choice.

Beaded Ceiling (Douglas Fir, Lodgepole Pine End-Matched, Radiata Primed Finger-Joint) | Flooring (Douglas Fir, Southern Yellow Pine, Lodgepole Pine End-Matched)Patterned lumber is largely associated with early American Décor but with modern technology, new patterns create modern finishing lumber. Most patterns are reversible providing a choice of pattern or surface finish in one board. Patterned boards are inspected and graded on the pattern or face side, but the back face can add to the design (which may be a lower the grade). There are many different patterns, and each pattern has a style and number. For example, Tongue and Groove, Beaded Ceiling, WP-4, and Car Siding are just a few patterns available.
